I don’t read….I listen!
I don’t read….there I said it! I don’t have this kind of concentration, and just when I was getting used to the idea that I might not be able to finish a book EVER and I would forever just skip over some pages and then go to the last page to see how it all ends, I discovered books on tape, or rather books on my iPhone! It’s been couple of years since then and I truly enjoy my commutes from Orange County to Los Angeles so much more now, that I have a story that keeps me company. I frequently sit in my car for a while after I’m already at my destination not wanting to stop my audiobook.
Anyway, as I said, I do listen and so far I have been mostly interested in audiobooks about murder , sociopaths and drug addiction,..not sure why, but I do feel qualified to solve a murder, spot a sociopath and tell you that there is nothing you can do to stop your friend from their drinking or heavy drug usage.
I have decided to change the genre completely and I am beginning to listen to”Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert. So far so good, I was worried that since this book was endorsed by Oprah, it could be the next “The Secret”, that I couldn’t finish even listening to. Horrible! Horrible! It felt like it was the same message rewritten 5 000 time ….Stupid! I am all for a positive thinking, even though being from the Eastern Europe, I’m just as fine with being negative and sarcastic.
Hmmm “Eat, Pray, Love”….lovely book. I’m still on the first chapter titled “Eat”, actually I’m about 15 min. into the book, so all I know so far, is that it will be probably about eating, so I do…I eat a lot. Yesterday I took my friend for her birthday to Bastide Restaurant in Los Angeles for lunch. The weather was perfect to put on my summer dress and meet the birthday girl in the beautiful garden of the Bastide. My friend Chef Joseph Mahon, was kind enough to cook for us, and what a treat that was.
After verifying that we didn’t have any food allergies, he surprised us with a 5 course delicious meal from Potato Soup with Watercress Custard, Bacon, Lemon Oil through an amazing Champagne Artichoke Risotto, Smoked Salmon Salad, Parmesan to Salmon with Beluga Lentils, Snap Peas and Port Wine Sauce.
I do recommend visiting Chef Joseph’s Blog at http://www.joseph-mahon.com/ to see some of his delicious creations.

I praise your decision not to read books. I gave up that habit myself when the Kardashians came out. I figured there is nothing I can find in a book that Khloe didn’t already say. I also think you should go back to books about addicted hookers and such and leave the positive message for people who just found Jesus . From my experience East Europeans do far better in dealing with abuse and addictions than love, eats and sunshine.

hey man, that’s a pretty decent writing. i said that, me, i mean. i guess i need to start using some help from audio books too, since i just can’t find the time to read anymore and that would be something that could make my time spent @ the sewing machine a bit shorter, couldn’t it?
btw, i have some cool books in polish to give away. prose it it. i know you don’t read but maybe you know someone who still does? alicja?
